Re: Help with Rear Quarter Power Window Installation 59 Convertible

The body manual is a good resource, but what you need is the Service Manual which has very good details and names for all the items that are missing from your quarter window project. There are some basic instructions on how to adjust these finicky assemblies, but the installation and adjustment pose...

Re: '60 ignition switch problem?

For the wiring diagram you need go to 'Old Car Manual Project' and in the site index you will find a section for wiring diagrams. The 60 thunderbird is there.

There is no one making these items. Here is a listing of what others have used to make the vanes https://www.ebay.com/itm/Garolite-Micar ... 1438.l2649

Re: 59 Thunderbird instrument cluster

There are seven (7)? nuts along the backside of the curved portion. With some of the instruments removed you can get your small hand in there to remove them. I have found that it is easier to remove the entire dash.

Re: 1959 Thunderbird convertible rust repair

Your goal would be to replace the 'boxed' section of the inner rockers with new metal. I've had success in fabricating bent pieces of 14 ga that can be inserted and welded together to form a box channel. I've seen where others insert steel rectangular tubing and weld this in position. With either of...

Re: 1960 convertible hydraulic hoses

I've used Hydorelectric and never had a problem. The lower deck piston "T"s have a short leg so the fitting does not contact the body, this was a recent change.

Re: Calling all 430 V-8 Experts!

The 430 in the Thunderbird has additional engine mounts added to the existing 352 setup. For a Concourse restoration yours must have these. You don't mention if these are in place. I've owned 430 cars that had these mounts cut out so that the 352 could be installed in the 430 J code chassis. The 430...

Re: 60 window replacement

The frame at the top and back are one and they are held to the bottom frame by two screws. Remove these two screws and using a block of wood on each side of the glass, mount this in a vice and tighten the vise. Now, using another block of wood and a hammer, remove the bottom frame by hammering on th...

You have to modify universal body clips that have the center threaded post. An auto body supply store is a good place to start, also Restoration Specialties.

I've seen these clips brazed on several pieces of stainless top header trim, and presumed it was factory to assure positioning of the trim.

Battery Ground

The negative cable from the battery bolts to the block using one of the generator hold down bolts. There is a 10 ga wire from the inner fender clamp (for the starter cable) to the back of the cylinder head on the 352, and to the starter bolt on the 430.

60 Power Steering

Yes the 60 had 5/16 fittings. No they are not supposed to leak. There are plenty of used and rebuilt units around as well as rebuild/seal kits. No need to try to fit something else.
