Re: New tires: Firestone or Maxxis?
Hi Guenther, I have used Maxxis MA1 on my cars here in Germany since 2008 and they are quite good. The only problem is the white stripe, which sometimes gets discolored and won't clean up, but I found a way to paint them with white rubberized paint which works well.

Hi Fred, Congratulations on your new 50 year old car! The photo link in your original post doesn't work (at least on my computer), so I corrected it and added below so others can see it. You really need to get the literature suggested above by Jim, but until then here are a few quick comments, I am ...

Re: transmission shifts late
I don't claim to be an expert, but I have rebuilt my Mustang C4 transmission by myself with no previous experience. The principal of operation between a C4 and a C6 is basically the same. The modulator has nothing to do with slow shifts from park or neutral into drive or reverse. This problem sounds...

Re: Tires
I put Maxxis MA 1 on my 66 in 2010, no problems. On my 68 Mustang, the only problem I have is that the whitewall stripe is discolored around the perimeter.

Re: Parking Barke
How sloppy is your column shift linkage? There is a plastic vacuum release valve for the parking brake at the base of the column, which releases the vacuum of the brake ratchet in park or neutral. With a sloppy shifter, it may be out of sequence enough to retain vacuum. Try wiggling the shifter whil...

Re: steering box replacement
Charley I see they require a $200 dollar core charge - did you send them your old one? Not sure of the economics from overseas. I could do with a new steering box. No, with shipping charges at over $120 and a broken and gouged gear box, which I didn't think counts as a repairable core, I didn't sen...

I had good experience this summer with these guys: http://stores.ebay.de/buyautoparts/.
They sent me a rebuilt gearbox to Germany, fits and works perfectly.

Re: Temperature Regulator Valve - How it works
Update: Since my car is parked for the winter, I decided to follow up on my temperature regulator valve issue. I pulled the TRV out (much easier the second time around) and found my problem: the rubber diaphragm at the heat regulator plunger was ripped and fully separated from the plunger itself. I ...
