Re: color to use on speedometer numbers

When I bought my 66, the previous owner had painted over the numbers. It was one hell of a tedious job making them look like they are supposed to, but like always, the end result is what counts. Once all the red over the numbers was removed, I used a white paint pen for the numbers. https://imagizer...

Re: Sold my 66

The first event with our local club was a cruise to a neighboring state. Of 8 vehicles, our 66 was the only T-Bird. The other members chose to drive Corvettes or their modern iron. In May they said their T-Birds were still in storage. What a first impression. Why are Corvettes allowed in the T-Bird...

Re: Sold my 66

Hi readbird1, Of course it's going to a good home...Aussie's love American cars. Just think, the 64 will see Kangaroo's, Koala's and the Great Barrier Reef and miles and miles of open road all over Australia. By the way, which state is she going to? If I was to buy a modern car it would be your 200...

Re: Sold my 66

Noooooo  Does this mean the coup is empty? Glad to hear your sticking around at any rate. Scott The coup ins't empty Scott. I bought my 2004 Corvette this past May, and didn't have room for the Tbird, my Pickup, and the Corvette. I know the Tbird is going to a fantastic new home. The guy that ...

Sold my 66 today, and it's on it's way to Australia.

Re: 1966 pricing point. Please any input is appreciated.

As some of you know, I have had my 66 up for sale for some time now. Most people inquiring about the car have been tire kickers or brokers. Today I got an interesting call, and this may be the person who actually buys the car. It ties in quite well with the op's post. The 66 you have your eye on is ...

Re: EVERYTHING JUST DIED

The final thing to check was the battery, and it was the source of the problem. I put it on my charger, the charger said it was fully charged I ran a jumper across the post, and no spark at all. I bought this battery a month ago yesterday. Man quality sure is lacking in auto parts these days. They ...

Re: EVERYTHING JUST DIED

So far, this is what I have done. Replaced the solenoid, ran a new negative battery cable from the battery to the block. Checked the fusible link and no damage there. Check the wiring to the relays under the right side of the dash. They appear to be ok. Still, everything is dead as a door nail. Bob.

EVERYTHING JUST DIED

I have not sold the bird yet, and sill use it occasionally. Today when I went to take it out for a little while, when I opened the door, none of the interior lights came on. Put the key in the ignition, and nothing, no clicking, nothing. Also, no lights or horn. New battery put in last week, and tes...

Re: Balljoint removal

The ball joints are riveted in(3) (unless they are replacement joints, then they would be bolted, again, 3 of them.) Best way is to remove the arm with joint attached, then put the arm in a vice and chisel off the rivets. If it's bolts, just take the nut off, and your pickle fork should be enough to ...

Re: Newbie questions

I can help you fix the sliding column. This is an easy, permanent fix. When you are looking at the assembly , you will notice there is an adjustable screw on the left side of the assembly. It acts as a stop, and if adjusted correctly, keeps the column from moving, once in the locked position. Adjust...

Great Place to install the extra speakers in a Hardtop Bob. Like I said, it was definitely a pita to get those speakers in there. First one has to decide is the flow through vent system really necessary. I guess if one were a smoker, that would be important, but I don't smoke so I felt the speakers ...

Re: radio upgrades

I bought a tired 66 T-Bird radio with the 8-track. I sent it up to Blaine Minn for a rebuild and modifications. That shop installed a trigger wire for an aux. amp in the trunk and an imput for an mp3 player or what ever you want. I bought an aux. amp and wired it to a pair of 12" sub woofers t...
