Re: Broken tach needle

Hi, The 57 Tach is different than the 55-56. It uses a pointer not a needle. First you have to remove the Tach from the dash. Then you will be able to determine the problem. You may have gotten lucky and the pointer just fell off', but that's too simple. I have a 57 and have a couple Tachs but reall...

Re: Generator bearing spring

I have rebuilt half dozen of these. I only replaced the 2 bearings 2 brushes 2 springs. I have never had a problem. The armature (rear) seats into the rear bearing. So either I've lucky or the FAB10087-B is not needed. But if you read the part # it has an A not a B. Who klows. I would just put it to...

Re: Generator bearing spring

Hi, From what I can figure per Hill's catalog page 91 the brushes can be ordered as a kit with tthe springs or without. Maybe that's what they did. The springs are #10057 brushes #10069 or kit 10001-BK. Check it out. Also don't forget Thunderbirds use the kit to relocate the hot post on gen. backing...

Re: Battery Availability

FYI Everyone, Battery Central Mall has the group 32. Now I know all Thunderbird owners are budget minded. But battery prices have gone thuough the roof in the past several years. I have had 4 of these batteries 2 for my wifes 56, 1 for 1968 mustang and 1 for my 57 Bird. One lasted 7+ years in wife 5...

Hi All, Anyone interested in the Generator backing plate (correct for bird) Check out Classic Restorations LLC They have the part for you. By Ford just bolt it on. Convert your cover at another time or sell it.

Re: Generator Wiring '56 TB

Hi, As far as the part you need, it all depends on the Generator backing plate. Some are cast and some are stamped. I have done mostly stamped. If your not sure call Casco and describe it to them. Paul
