Re: Hood Springs

Looks like real part numbers. Go ahead and try to find them using the numbers. You might also try looking for hood springs on ebay for the full size Fords or Lincolns in the mid 80's

Re: Hood Springs

Unable to help with you part numbers for the hood springs, but if you are thinking of replacing the factory units, you might consider what I installed as replacements on my 79 Bird. The original springs caused the hood to sag down. So, I replaced them with springs from the early 80's Ford and Mercur...

Re: 1978 Ford thunderbird headlight switch

Unsure of what is broken on your headlight switch.
Can you post a picture to show what has happened?
That would help identify the nature of your problem.

Re: 78 Thunderbird heating problems.

Re the correct thermostat, I'll have to check the part number tomorrow (Monday, 12/7/20, and get back with you. But if the stat you listed is specifically for the 351M, then it should be the correct one.

Re: 78 Thunderbird heating problems.

The 351M (351 Modified) motor is typical for running hot. Your heating problem is a common one. Whereas the 351 W uses a bypass hose to allow the engine coolant to pass into the radiator and get cooled off, the 351M lacks such a hose. I drive a Windsor in my 79 Bird in Florida and have no heating pr...

Re: My dash and marker lights went out

From your description of the symptoms, it does seem reasonable to conclude you need a light switch. First remove it, find the part number on it. Then, either look on ebay or at your local parts store. Some auto parts stores do carry these switches.

Re: Just picked this up

Congratulations on a great find. The car has some highly desirable features: bucket seats and center console. Rare. Turbine wheels, normally only found on the Heritage model Thunderbird or Towne Landau. From your attached photo, I could not tell if your car was in fact a Towne Landau model. But, in ...
