Re: 66 Fuel System Issue

I think you do have two problems. How many of us, in younger years, ran cars with no working gauge until we had time and money to fix?So, the gauge will not stop the car from running but, as Dan suggests, could be a pick up problem. Have you had the chance to check the filter at the fuel pump? If it...

Re: Lost Title VIN question

For further planning, some states offer a classic car plate or a 'regular' plate. In MO. the difference is one needs a safety inspection before getting the standard plate. There are usually driving restrictions on a classic plate such only driving to and event or ???. If that is the case in your sta...

Re: Quarter panel removal

Look at the website of Classic Sheet Metal. They sell replacement 'panels' and looking at their parts catalog you can see what pieces look like. The rear quarter is all one piece. I had rust in the lower part of the rear and had an expert body man cut and weld in a new lower panel. The rest of the q...

Re: 1966 Intake Manifold

I have an intake manifold you can have from a '66 428, same. However it is VERY heavy and shipping is ???. As Alan suggests this is not a common for this cast iron part, gaskets maybe, but can happen. Also you may be able to find this part close to you it was a common part. Warning is this is very h...

Re: Speedometer Numbers

Have not tried this but if you have in your house already a product like "GooGone" or "Spot Shot" you could try this using a cotton swab or thin brush. These are some what mild cleaners/removers and not promising to remove paint but what you have may be old and brittle enough to ...

Re: C6 confusion

Lars, Good to keep in mind the transmission MODEL you have is a C6. Cruise-o-Matic is basically a marketing name Ford used to differential 3 speed transmissions from the 2 speed Ford-o-Matic. Both were available at one time. If you talk to suppliers or mechanics, most should know to get year and mod...

Re: conv top frame repair

I would say it depends on the part. If you need, for example, to punch out a pin you need to consider how fragile the parts are and how much stress they will be in during the repair.I took mine off but also wanted to “restore” the frame.

Re: 1964 bird transmission

Actually, for snow and rain states, starting in second gear is sometimes the best way to launch these beasts. Still is for newer cars too but too many drivers can only use their right foot to get a car moving.

Re: 2004 AC issues

Did not happen with the 04 'bird I had but did happen with the '04 Merc Monterrey. One of the motor controllers for air routing was intermittently failing. As you describe, driving along just fine and suddenly hot air. Sometimes came back after pushing buttons some times not. A/C freon level was alw...

Re: Can Mercon V be used for the convertible hydraulic pump.

Transmission fluid is a hydraulic fluid, so is brake fluid. For "customer and dealer satisfaction" Ford decided to use trans fluid rather than having folks stock yet one more specialized item. Brake fluid wasn't really practical so the trans. fluid was specified. In this application using ...

Re: 66 C6 Pull - a couple questions

Unless you are determined to rebuild this yourself, get a transmission shop to bid the pull also. The labor time,on these vintage cars, for a transmission pull is pretty small and should not add much to a bill. Good luck. Vince

Re: 63 single master to dual master cylinder conversion

This is a really popular topic. Do a search here and the '64-'66 section so you can collect a lot of ideas. Understand some of the topics cover a conversion to dual for a disc front/drum rear set up. Those MC's are different. Good luck.

Re: Need a 390

Sorry don't have one. Some points I hope help. There are 1 or 2 FE engine forums. You can look them up and this spreads your search from just T-Birders. Also, you can check with VTCI business like Pat Wilson's. I bought a whole engine from him and it turned out great. He may sell short blocks but di...
