Re: Headlight System Relay How-To Article?

I think adding relays to the headlight circuit should be done by everyone. There is no downside to it. In a lot of ways it's a safety upgrade and should be considered as such when judging. It can be done in such a way that it is almost impossible to detect (mine are hidden behind the washer bag), a...

Re: Fair Price?

I'd recommend a lot of research on your part - comparing other cars for sale in similar condition. $2k sounds high to me for a car that may need "everything". Some guys can provide the "elbow grease", but it is hard to hide from parts prices, paint materials, and engine-trans reb...

Have you been in touch with the local club/VTCI Chapter - Garden State Latebirds? Contact info is in the "Scoop", they are in the Cranbury/Hamilon Sq. area. Hope you find what you need.

Re: Just bought 1966 tbird for restore

+1 on the gasket sealer for holding the thermostat in place. Also (fwiw) Permatex makes a special sealer for water pump/thermostat area; # 22071 not sure if it would be helpful on these cars? ... but on my small block I was able to cut a couple of bolts off (to make short studs) and that made the al...

Re: another 1966 tbird for restore

Welcome aboard - very sharp color there! I'd guess that the "modified" guys have plenty of tips for hopping up the motor, but 425 ft-lbs of twist is already stout. I got standard shocks and rear springs, added the big front sway bar... it rides like a dream. It's no sports car... bu...

Re: High Mileage oils

(FWIW) My understanding of one of the "main differences" with the High Mileage motor oils is that they have an additive to help swell the gaskets/seals. The idea is to cut down on leaks. I'm sure that there are other differences, but that's the one that I've heard the most about. I tried i...

Re: Just bought 1966 tbird for restore

Wow, kind of a mess. Is that a 2bbl carb? Perhaps that was done in the 70's to save gas? Not sure what to make of the chrome covers with the quick removal screws. Why would you have a 2bbl and a solid lifter cam? There are good 390s out there, either used or rebuild (make sure you work with a rebui...

Re: hood pad function?

Thanks for all of the good input
I'll see about the removal / clean-up and go from there. Engine noise in this case is minimal, car is basically stock and the wind noise is pretty loud at anything above about 35 mph.
