Re: Dash pad from summit

Thanks for the replys guys. I went trough some of the vcti supporters web sites, and most have a god price, only a few dollars over the summit price. Except Mac, there it is much more expensive...

Since its all the same pad, I will take my business to one of these vcti vendors

Re: Dash pad from summit

Thanks for the reply Alan. If its the same quality, I see no reason to use Summitracing either, an will use a vcti sponsor.

Do all these vendors get their pads from the same source? Are there some that are of better quality than the others?

Re: 1962 hard top 5.8 engine swap

Thanks for the pictures of the engine mounts, kind of resembles what I have done. I was thinking of using the Extreme Duty Poly Motor Mounts from broncograveyard.com, like in this picture: http://oldclassiccars.org/wp-content/uploads/302POLYMOUNT.jpg Maybee that will work if used with that adapter y...

Re: 1962 hard top 5.8 engine swap

Thanks, sent you a pm  I bought some shorty headers that I will have to "manipulate" a bit on the drivers side  The reason I chose the 4R70W trans over the AOD, is that it is much stronger in its stock form than the AOD. Although a bit more complicated to set up, and in need of...

Re: 1962 hard top 5.8 engine swap

Thank you SGTCornewell. Do you have a picture of the mounts? I have done all the required modifikations. I relocated the dispstick to the front, and then used an older type oilpan. The engine I'm using came out of a 88 mustang. I have installed the explorer/gt40 lower and upper intake. The efi syste...

Re: 1962 hard top 5.8 engine swap

Well, I bought a '60s Mustang K code 4V intake, & a new Edelbrock 600 cfm carb & swapped 'em on recently. The 'Bird is a little rocket now. Originally, I'd thought maybe some day I'd swap out the SBF for an FE. After the miles I've driven this car w/ the 302, I can tell you its staying put....

Just that your RPM's will be much lower at highway speed with an OD. Seems like cars usually have lower gearing when they go to an AOD type trans. Maybe 3.5~3.9:1 or even lower instead of your 3:00:1. Just asking - I've thought about doing just such a mod but have never gotten to it. Scott Oh, I un...

Are you going to put a lower rear end in it (higher numerically)? If not then wont that give you awfully high gearing? Scott Not sure I understand what you mean? Why should a transmission with overdrive give me awfylly high gearing? Hava a look here for the swap of a 302 and a 4R70W into my bird: h...

Great thanks!

A 4R70W is a 4 speed electronic transmission. It is the sucessor to the AODE

u-joint size

Hi!

What is the standard size of the u-joints on a 61? 1310 1330?

The 4R70W is going in and I need to get a new yoke that will
mate with the driveshaft...
