Sanderson Headers
anyone ever tried these guys:
http://www.sandersonheaders.com/Sanders ... stang.html
they spec for a 390 mustang, but look like they tuck pretty close to the block? seems like they would fit ok, i don't really see anything special about them vs the FPA's. which are overpriced. seriously, i have a hard time giving $800 to a company that can't even email me an installed picture of "the only header that fits a FE thunderbird"

I've got a set of FPA headers sitting in my garage waiting for me to install them. They are the only option out there if you want to put headers on one of these cars and believe me I checked everywhere for a less expensive alternative before I plunked my $900 down. I suppose being able to charge what the market will bear is one of the advantages to being the only outfit that provides a particular product, especially a niche item like exhaust headers for old Thunderbirds. I can't imagine they're doing a lot of volume since the majority of folks with these cars are trying to keep them close to original so they're using replacement manifolds instead of headers.

Getting ready for a full 2.5" exhaust w/ X pipe and super 40s and hate to only upgrade everything from the log manifold back. but wait...
Just saw these listed at sanderson

Re: Sanderson Headers
any body tried those sanderson's yet??
Re: Sanderson Headers
Subscribing ! just replaced D/S exhaust manifold , wish I would have seen these, looks like they will dump the heat out of the engine allot faster, due to the collector design, + being steel, no cracking, looks like a win win.
Re: Sanderson Headers
Take a look over in the 61-63 modified section, I did a write up and pictures over there. Yes, they fit.

Thanks 61Okie, glad to something fits these cars !
Re: Sanderson Headers
There is a write up & pic's on facebook in the 64 65 66 thunderbird group forum about the headers on a 66 , he does mention that he did use mini starter otherwise they fit with jacking up the engine for install !
Re: Sanderson Headers
Quick question, notice that the flange is a 3 bolt design, stock exhaust is 2 bolt, is there an adapter ? pr how did you hook up to the existing exhaust system ? Thanks,

Re: Sanderson Headers
A trip to the exhaust shop will solve that. They would have to make up a new H-pipe or modify your existing one.JETBRD66 wrote:Quick question, notice that the flange is a 3 bolt design, stock exhaust is 2 bolt, is there an adapter ? pr how did you hook up to the existing exhaust system ? Thanks,

Re: Sanderson Headers
That would mean they would also have to install the headers for a proper fit, I wouldn't trust them to fix my bicycle ! my only issue is welding stainless to mild steel ! they could have made it easy and a direct hook up ! I know the 3 bolt flange set is better and stronger but is also a pain and allot more expensive to install !

Re: Sanderson Headers
that is not a problem and should weld very wellwelding stainless to mild steel
PLEASE invest a few bucks and buy all the shop manuals for your car. Definitely will save you much time and be an education.
