No third gear...been trying to educate myself on the C-O-M, but apparently I need to take a graduate course just to figure out which one is actually in the car.

She parks, reverses, and drives as she should until I get to where third should be, then nothing.

Could it be a linkage or column problem?

Would hitting it with a BFH help? (kidding)

Which drive position are you using to start out? If you're using the one that's one notch down from neutral, you're starting off in second gear. Which means only one upshift to reach third.

To start off in first gear, use the drive position two notches down from neutral. It has a green dot on the selector dial.
Currently Birdless....we'll see how long that lasts!

My shifter arm is so wobbly and loose it's hard to tell wher it's actually at.

I'll tinker w/ it and see if that helps. Plan to rebuild column anyway, I'll try that before I panic.
