02-05 Computers
Any idea of problems with the 02-05 computers? Have a few VTCI members claiming to have problems and there are no Ford replacements for these cars?

I wish I knew what the real problem with the computer was, (got e-mail) it just seems a few Floridians have been having problems with the computers in their 02-05's and want Ford to take care of them. They wanted to know if the VTCI had any clout with Ford!

There are a number of repair or service procedures that call for the computer to be reprogrammed. If someone skips that step, the problem will frequently come back/turn on the MIL. This is not at all unusual for newer cars as the factory had to make certain assumptions about how parts would behave as they age and later they get more information.
Ford is pretty good about distributing the programs and updates to third parties. You may have to look around a bit to find someone who will program the computer but they are out there.
There are also third parties who sell the computers.
