OK Rocket/Bullet-Birders, time to show off!

Post by TsNStangs »

There seems to be so much pride of ownership on this forum (and since we have no "Gallery" area), I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated just to pictures of your cars.
This includes ALL your RocketBirds, whether partly restored, pristine, or still up on jacks in the garage; I know you love your cars with the rust-perforated fenders just as much as the ones taking home the trophies!
If there is any special equipment on your car, or you have something like aftermarket wheels and tires, feel free to add that info, too, but let's try to keep this as picture oriented as possible as our own little piece of visual candy to visit here... Not to mention the fact that being able to look at a huge conglomeration of other cars in one place is also a great way to get ideas about colours, styles and equipment for own rides.

So c'mon - don't be shy about the condition, bring it on!

(*And for those who are having trouble figuring out how to post pics, just drop me a PM, and we'll tried to get you squared away so you can play, too! ;-) )

Hey Dan - I thought I'd start it off by posting some pics taken by my dad back in 1966 for a bit of nostalgia on the ol' 62 HT...

1st summer (1966) we owned the car, (Alan, you can see the Firestone Deluxe Champions on the car !!!):

Image

Dad was proud to take the car for its first "trip" to Univ. of Illinois in the summer of '66:

pic taken back in 1966:

Below is a recent pic of car:

As the ol' 62 HT appears today... (people are looking at a '57 Ferrari parked next it. The 'bird has its tail feathers between its legs!!!):

BTW, I just realized that this was the last "fin" generation:

Image

Pic I took of Norton Baum as he explains the finer points of heater hose and "correct" clamps to me...:

So there you have it... an old car that's a part of our family...

Will try this again. It worked in the test section of this forum, so it should work here. I was fortunate enough to get a few pictures taken of my car in 1974 and am very thankful for those on this message board who were able to connect me with so many people to learn about 63's. I never dreamt I would contact someone who considered buying this same car in the mid 70's and still had pictures of it. The snapshots were scanned and e-mailed to me and are now archived in a bit of a history file to stay with the car. Also the picture with the top down is the first time this top was completely down in over 18 years, as verified by the previous owner's staff mechanic. (Still works flawlessly) With only 3500 miles in 26.5 years it still looks pretty good (to me) and should only get better!!

Awesome!
Including those "vintage" shots makes this exercise all the cooler! Great idea - thanks, Art! Wow!
And "nova" - yeah, I figured you'd be first to post up!

So let's keep 'em coming! Where are all those project cars?!?

(P.S. If anyone that was looking for help with picture posting didn't get an answer back from me, please let me know! Anyone else needing help, please don't hesitate to ask - )

Finally, thanks to some inside help, figured out how to post a pic! This is my 1961 Bird, I've owned about 6 months. Everything works except the charging system, which is driving me a little crazy! Had to sell my 1965 Riviera (background) to keep the wife happy:)

Image

My daughter loves this car! She thinks it's her own personal playroom.

I can't decide which is more beautiful - the baby blue Bird or that little slice of heaven in the driver's seat! You're a lucky man NBG.

VERY nice!
And you're in good company with the whole "had to sell something else to keep the little woman happy", NewBird; we've all been there!
Beautiful car AND daughter - congrats!
