Help needed to clarify 1966 window sticker

Post by abaucom »

I have a 1966 TBird conv. with a poorly scanned window sticker from previous owner. Hard to read.
[file:///C:/Users/Alfred/Desktop/Thunderbird/My%20TBird%20factory%20documents/1966%20TBird%20window%20sticker.jpg][/url]
At the bottom of the doc. I think I see Yates Motor Co., Chicago.
Under that I think I see Maher Brothers, Inc. Dallas.

I know from my R.O.T. sheet (D.S.O. 61) the direct sales office was Dallas, TX. I know my Bird was sold new in Dallas. I know my 1966 conv. was ordered with black vinyl & fabric seats. Did not know you could get fabric seats in a 1966 convertible. I did want a Marti report on my 1966 Bird, but none are available.
Regarding the window sticker, trying to find out why Chicago is listed when the car was delivered new to a Dallas TX dealership? Just having an issue reading a poor scan of the window sticker.
Was my auto special ordered from a client in Dallas? Why does the window sticker list Chicago but auto delivered to Dallas?

Thanks for your insight.

Perhaps the supplying dealer or the motor transport company?

Possible Yates was the transportation company? According to VTCI Vol 5 specs a fabric insert in the seats was available.

If it's more familiar or easier for you to do, feel free to email scans/photos of the Gate Release/invoice to my attention at tast@earthlink.net as I do want to see/decipher what's on it.

Well, I can tell you that a buyer could have ordered the Sierra Cloth insert seat option in a Convertible in '66. I've observed another Convertible in the past that had those seats, but it certainly was very unusual. I think most people would've thought it an unwise upholstery choice in a Convertible for obvious reasons and I would guess Ford would not have recommended it. However, in those days Ford was willing to do just about anything a buyer wanted - within reason of course.
