63 Tbird interior

Post by 46Woodie »

Is there a source for finding interior color schemes with exterior colors OR was any color scheme for interior used with all paint colors within reason. Example,,my interior is black door panels and white seats, would that have come from factory on a blue or red or even white car?
Thank you

What Ducksface means go to our general store here and order the VTCI Original Factory Specification Manual 1960 1963. This was put together by our members that researched factory blueprints of original cars that were cataloged and judged with pictures.

First off, no white upholstery was offered in '61-'63 EXCEPT for the '63.5 Ltd. Edition "Principality of Monaco" Landau, which had white leather seats and door/quarter panels (the door panels were unique to the "Monaco" in that they also had carpet on the bottom). Black-coded (56, 76, 86) interiors were all-black - seats, door/quarter panels, dash - only the headliner was white. What most people think is "white" is more than likely the Pearl Beige (54, 74 & 84) interiors. See the article Jim Wulf and I put together in the March-April 2024 issue of VTCI's Thunderbird Scoop magazine for a breakdown of how this interior was one of the few two-toned ones used in '61-'62 and carried over into 1963.

Secondly, VTCI's 1961-1963 Original Factory Specifications Manual (OFS) has charts and matrices developed from dealer/factory literature showing what interior/exterior combinations were available for all 3 years along with charts for the colors for individual components. That is available to paying members here (if it wasn't for our dues-paying members, this site would not be able to exist!):
