Trans shifting question.

Post by aa010175 »

I do not know if my transmission is shifting into third gear or not. If I have the transmission in D2 and going down the road at 50 mph and I move the lever to D1 nothing happens the RPMs don’t change the speed doesn’t change. I don’t know if it’s shifting to third or not because of the no results from the downshifting. Any help would be great. Thanks Dave

You should be starting out and doing all your driving in D1, putting the selector into D2 will start you out in second gear for snow or mud etc., shifting between D1 and D2 at 50 miles an hour will do nothing.

Putting the selector into L while driving at cruising speed will drop the transmission down into second gear for extra braking on hills etc, if you keep it in L when your speed drops down around 10 miles an hour or so, it'll actually drop down into a Low or first gear range; attached is a short video which explains this,,,
