Mystery Item

Post by paul2748 »

I got these two pices of metal along with some 57 Tbird parts. Anyone have any idea what they may be ? The are 11 inches long, about 1/2 inch wide. Thin metal with a little bead on one side,

Thanks.

I don't think so. Anything that light weight would not be near the soft top. It's a trim piece. I know my car like the back of my hand but I don't recall seeing something like that. Unfortunately, my car is under cover in a freezing garage so I can't look to investigate. They may not even be related to a baby T-Bird, maybe something after a '57 and something found at a swap meet that just looked good at the time.

When I stripped down the hardtop from all the old seal goo I had I think I remember pulling off some really old thin metal like you show? I didn't reuse it because I was working with a universal seal to replace everything. Not sure I'm remembering correctly since it was a few years back?

Paul,
They are used to secure the front of a 57 padded dash cover. There are 4 total, 2 short, 2 long.

No wonder I didn't know. They must be covered by the chrome trim which I have never removed.
