seat adjustment on 63

Post by marks »

I have a 63 hardtop with electric front seat. Because Iam tall my head rubs on the headliner. I have the seat all the way down but its still not enough .Has anyone cut the floor pan to lower the seat 1"? I know that drastic but not sure of any other options other than buying a convertible and I can't afford that. Thanks

Mark , it’s been a while but similar subject was addressed.
I’m 6’2” 250. My issue was moving the seat back more.
Don’t cut things up, try this. Pull the seat. Go to Home Depot (?) get 2 metal strips 4 long &4 short bolts. When
You drill the holes in the strips so the seat will sit 3” or so
Back and 1/4 inch or more toward the door. That will clear
The console and you will not notice it. When you have the seat all the way back the floor is lower and the seat rails
You made will bend down some after you sit in it a few times. This is easy to make and does not screw up the car.
I did this on my 63 & 64. Only cost a few bucks and 2 beers
To make. You will be shock at the difference an inch or two
Makes.

Could you provide pictures of the seat extender.
Will have my mechanic make it.

I’m 6’-7”.

My issue is also my gut and height.

Changing steering wheel and move seat back

Gonna have to live with headliner.

Thx
