1962 Roadster?

Post by alisondru65 »

My brother owned a 1962 convertible which may be a roadster, and he has now passed away. Is there a way to prove whether or not with the VIN? I found one site (vinwiz.com) that said it was but before I feel confident, I wanted to ask the experts....VIN is 2Y89Z161413. Thank you for anyone's help.

The "89" in the VIN denotes a Sports Roadster. With that 89 in the VIN you should show a "76B" in the Body Code area on the Data Plate.

What colors were the body and interior? Would like to know for documentation in a registry I maintain on 62-63 Sports Roadsters.

Hi Alan, I see from this thread that you are maintaining
A list of Sport Roadsters. Along with Jim Wulf you have been answering my questions regarding Tricarb brackets and springs
As You can see I am new to this Forum and and have recently purchased YY85Z106930 along with a copy of the original invoice
(Marti)? Indicating that it is an original early 1962, 76A SR. Do not have the dataplate with me, but can send you a photo on Monday.
Car is presently Rangoon red with a red interior. It was part of the Joeseph Aaronson collection in New Jersey until his death in 2021, when it was sold at a Mecum auction in Florida. Your thoughts will be appreciated!! Thanks, John
