What did you want to know? I've not used it but have seen a lot of discussion about it.

I've got one and I'm just starting to prepare for installation.

I've got a couple other projects I plan to do at the same time, so I may wait to start until the summer/fall cruising season is over.

I'm currently getting less than 10 MPG, so even if this gets me to 11 MPG it will save a lot of gas.

Good Question! I was just looking for places to stash that thing this weekend. I have A/C so under the dash is pretty crowded. I did mount an amplifier for the front speakers behind the Thunderbird emblem on the passenger side of the dash, I will have to look to see if there is more space there. If you don't have A/C, you could easily fit it where the A/C duct would go.

Think you need to press buttons on the controller, at least from manual to auto unless you intend to drive it in auto mode for ever. So you would need access to it.

Have been looking at the Laycock overdrive units for some time and wondering if they can be adapted to the Ford C6. As used in MGB V8, Triumph Stag, Jaguar. I think the gear vendors adapter is similar. And of course the Laycock can be had for around $300

i noticed several people use another high beam switch on the floor which is sorta weird to me.

The controller doesn’t have any buttons on it. There is a dash switch with two lights, and a floor switch which is the same as a high beam switch, these come with the kit.

So you can mount the controller anywhere inside the cabin and run wires to the switches.

The dash switch sets auto and manual, the floor switch engages OD in manual mode.

I kept trying to add a picture, but it gave me an "HTTP error", whatever that means.

If you can see this, it is a photo looking up behind the dash on the passenger side with lower part of the dash temporarily removed. You can see the amplifier for the front speakers and the GearVendors control box. The wires are just dangling for now, but at least it fits.

I’ve got the car jacked up and I’m ready to start the project.

In addition to installing the GV O/D I’m also
  • putting new seals on the shift and kick down shafts
  • Installing a cast finned transmission pan
  • Putting in a new fuel tank modified with a fuel pump for EFI
  • Running new fuel line with 100 micron filter and return line for EFI
Not sure how long this is going to take, but I’ll keep you informed of my progress
