Good morning
I have recently purchased a 1960 Hardtop 352 and am trying to find information regarding the engine date stamp.
Stamped onto a smooth area of the block near the oil filter is '30G6 L'
Can somebody help me decode this?
Cheers

Re: 1960 Engine Date Stamp Help Please
I've given a link to a very good explanation of how to read CASTING date codes. If what you're looking at is STAMPED, that is the engine assembly date. Yours reads 30th day of July 1966, or 1976, both are possible. you now need to find a CASTING date code to determine what decade the block was cast. A C6 number would be 1966, a D6 number will be 1976. hope that helps, Bob C

Thanks Bob
Seeing that the engine is '66 or '76, would that mean it's actually a 390?

not at all. most likely a 352, 360 or 390. find the block casting number and block casting date, then learn how to measure the stroke and you should know what you have. good luck, Bob CSeeing that the engine is '66 or '76, would that mean it's actually a 390?
