Wedges are good... I think there’s nothing hot getting to the driver door, which is what I don’t have an explaination for. Everything (seems) to be where it should. These two bullets interest me, though. Any crazy ideas? I’m open to anything at this point!

This sounds ridiculous (and is) but make sure the white wedges are actually pushing on the switches. On my early 64, the square holes for the white thingys are badly misalligned and dont work. From the factory, one "leg" of the white wedge thingy is cut off and slid downward in the square hole. Then they stuck a screw through it. (manufacturing engineering at its finest)
I would hope they fixed this by 66 but you never know!

Hi Scott. This is off topic but do you know when the earliest manufacture date was for the '64? The data on my data plate is 29B which I think means February 29, 1964. Is that correct?

Yes, I think that's correct. Mine was built in oct or nov (I forget!) of 63 but I'm sure there were some built earlier.
Do you have the silly screw through your white wedge block thingys?

You got me on that one. I'd prefer not to look until I have, lest the worm can be opened unnecessarily.

well this is embarrassing. Today I used a test probe, everything passed inspection, so I replaced the bulb on the left door, instantly turned on. Then when I opened my door, I noticed my map lights turn on (never worked), and it clicked... THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH! I clicked it to the right, and voila, all the lights turn off when the doors are closed. Let’s close this one and never come back. :drinking:
