Question about markings on radiator support

Post by Dmfleming » Wed May 16, 2018 9:42 pm

I am wondering if this mark is a factory mark. A friend swears its a wrecking yard mark but I have no reason to suspect this car has ever seen significant damage. car is a 1962 thunderbird hardtop.

Hello Dmfleming,

Have looked at a few parts cars, the wax pencil number was placed on the frame prior to the engine installation at Ford.

Thought you might appreciate the following,

Hope this is of assistance.

All the Best,

Jonathan

Hello again,

Just about forgot, thought you might be interested to see the mark being applied at approximately the 1:11 time frame at https://youtu.be/zwzHP-KGcoU.

Hope this is of assistance.

All the Best,

Jonathan

I believe that the number that is written on the framing of the radiator match's the ROT number on the build sheet if you have it. The number could be easily seen as the cars advanced done the line so the workers could match them up to the build sheets quickly.
