Missing Hose?

Post by rtram » Wed May 16, 2018 10:16 am

Can someone tell me if there is supposed to be a hose connection between the 2 points in this picture and what the parts are? I've looked in the shop manual but can't seem to find anything.

On the other side of the fan body there's another smaller hose. You can order them both. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/dyndet ... uKeY=AABGY

Paul is correct. They route clean cooling air for the fan motor, picking it up under the dash and exhausting it into the engine compartment. Without them, the fan motor is sucking dirty, oily, not to mention hot, air.

So after feeling around, I can only find the "pipe" for the hose on the one side that you can see in the picture for the double 90. There is no other place for the single 90 to attach. Could this be the wrong blower for a 1966 Landau with factory A/C?

It'd be great if somebody expert in MY66 could say whether that's a factory motor, or isn't. It looks the same as all the AC motors I've seen, and it looks different. The wires come out at a different spot. And the "Redmond--something" I've never seen stamped on a motor before. It appears to also be stamped "C4S--something" which looks correct. I've never seen an AC motor without the side vent.

@rtram,

It'd be great if you could get those full numbers, somehow, from the motor without scrubbing them off. 12volts DC is nothing. But the "Redmond" number would be interesting as well as the "C4S..." number which is the beginning of a Ford engineering number.

I will do my best to get a picture tomorrow. It looks like it's been there forever.

Good photo. The Redmond number produces no results whatsoever; it's a complete blank. The C4SF number is a Ford catalog parts number that comes up as AC motor. That's good. I compared it to my own motor and the catalog lists that there was only one motor used from 1960 through at least 1966, which is weird because yours is not like most I've seen. And sometimes they updated a part by changing the design or the color, and then the part number got a letter A added to the end of it, but there's no updated motor part numbers in the catalog. Caveat: I am not any parts expert here, just a guy following the confusing leads, and the leads just dead ended. If there's one guy who has run into this before it's Fred at the Bird Nest in Oregon. You can ask for him. Decent guy. 800.232.6378 Good luck.

P.S.
Is there any possibility that they ran out of motors and subbed from a local manufacturer, now defunct, temporarily to meet production? Hence the close but not exact motor case? I need to give this up, I know. :roll:

I have a motor without the pipes like the "redmond" motor in the picture. My guess is that it was a service replacement part.

Thank you for the help Paul. I've sent a detailed message to The Birds Nest. I guess when I get the hoses tomorrow, I will see what happens with just one.
