Fan diameter

Post by RLZegers »

I have a 1963 hard top that I added aftermarket a/c. The installer changed the engine cooling fan to an original 7 blade w/clutch. I added a fan shroud in an attempt to keep the engine cool but still have problems when idling in traffic in that the temperature slowly climbs until I can pick up speed or it overheats. I've decided to go with a flex fan with no clutch which should pull more air when at idle. I need to know what diameter fan was original so I can purchase a fan that should fit the shroud i have. Does someone happen to know?

Thank you for your help!

There is an extensive string of replies to this item over in the 61-63 Modified section, I believe your fan issue is addressed there? Or may be?

I have seen Flex fans as large as 18 inches- look into that- not sure you have the room.

You could place the fan in front of the radiator there is plenty of room there....
