Gas gauge

Post by whitebird »

What would stop the gas gauge from working in my 1965 T-bird. All other gauges (Temp, Oil & Amp) gauges work fine. A while ago I got water in the trunk and this is when the gas gauge stopped working. I am under the assumption that if CVR (CRV)?? was malfunctioning all the other gauges would stop working as well.

The sending unit and its connection are under the car, between the gas tank and the diff. So water in the trunk wouldn't effect it. There may be a plug for the harness to the sending unit located under the spare tire (I can't remember..) but getting wet probably wound't bother it.
Your correct about the CVR and the other gauges working.
If you can get the back of the car up on ramps, it's easy to see the sending unit. Hopefully it came unplugged for some reason.
