head light springs
can someone please tell me if there are two springs used for each light on a 1966 t-bird one for the ball bucket and one for the retaining ring or is it only one spring to hold both the shop manual seem to only show one #13031 Thanks Skip

head light springs
i called birds nest and they say only one spring part #13031 to hold both but i had to change a headlight and once the trim rim is removed the ball bucket wants to fall out because the adjusting screws become loose with no tension on them is this a poor design or is there something to hold the ball bucket in while changing the bulb i checked the other lights and they are all the same seems to be a cracy way to simply change a bulb Thanks Skip

I just swapped out my bulbs for halogens and only saw one spring each. Needles to say I lost one while changing the bulbs, I was trying to release it and it flu back into the engine bay, I cant find it anywhere. Went to the T-Bird Headquarters and they don't have any for a 66. Ford changed the design in 65, I think, can't find a replacement. Any ideas?

Re: head light springs
Did you ever find a spring?
I was in the army stationed at Ft. Lewis in November 1973. I bought my 65 Thunderbird near there and was hooked on Thunderbirds ever since.
Re: head light springs
Try a Mustang spring, one of mine went missing I ordered part # C6AZ-13031-C from C&G Early Ford Parts, it worked! If you order online you will need to put in Mustang for car, I do not believe they service Thunderbird.
Re: head light springs & alignment
Hello Birdland,
This kinda related to the above situation:
I have adjusted three of the headlights to there proper position, but the fourth Bulb ( Driver side outside bulb) the vertical adjusting screw will not budge, it is a Phillips screw , do not want to strip it, need to turn counter clockwise to lower the direction of the beam, but cannot get it to move.
Doe anyone have any suggestions on getting this screw to break loose??
Thank you in Advance

Re: head light springs
Well, I forced mine on 2 headlights. On one of them, the adjustment screw came out completely, and the other just lost its grip for adjustment. I haven't figured out how to fix those yet - fortunately I rarely drive after dark!
So be careful!
