Metal trim on hardtop

Post by scolastico »

Just noticed that the trim piece on my 57 hardtop appears to be "peeling/ flaking". It is the trim piece along the rear lower edge adjacent to the back deck. I though that this piece was chrome or stainless - but I guess not. I purchased the car with the hardtop so I don't know if the trim was replaced. Anyone know what metal the trim is supposed to be? Any idea if I can "repaint" the trim?

Thanks

Could you post a picture??
PLEASE invest a few bucks and buy all the shop manuals for your car. Definitely will save you much time and be an education.

Thanks Joe. I'll give it a try - might take me a day or so to figure it out.

I thought my was stainless too, until it started peeling. Think I can repaint it?

The stainless trim on our birds where chromed from the factory. You can take it to a Finnish shop they can repair it and rechrome it. Although yours appears to be in very poor condition and may be more economic to replace
