Finally got my battery!!

Re: Finally got my battery!!
The chassis-connected side of the battery (negative on negative-ground cars, positive on positive ground cars) should always be disconnected first and reconnected last so if you happen to touch the chassis with the tool while loosening the fastener on the post the tool won’t carry any current. When you do the second terminal when removing the battery it will already be out of the circuit so the only risk is shorting to the opposite terminal. Battery disconnect switches are designed to fit on the negative terminal, probably for consistency with the above reasoning (also they often add a chunk of exposed metal which is better to be at chassis potential rather than 6v or 12v away from it). It’s appropriate to put the disconnect on the positive terminal only if you have a positive-ground car.

Unless you have to have a OEM look alike battery. I bought a 29nf battery, for my 56 Tbird today, from O'Reilly's Auto Parts. $115.00, $15 core charge.

I agree the vintage battery just looks right. Of course, the vintage battery will cost 3 times that of a substitute battery, but if it can be afforded, I think the vintage style is the way to motor.

I agree they look better, but unless you are showing the car. The $115 29nf,from your local auto parts, does the job. You can have one overnight, and not have to wait months for it to come. Also,if something goes wrong with it,you can deal local. I do like the look of the original look, but other than the color of the caps, not much difference.
