1958-60 Spindles on a 64

Post by hopp150 »

Ok, this may seem backwards but I'm wondering if I can fit 1958-1960 front spindles and lower control arm will fit onto a 1964. The reason I want to do this is I want the wilwood brake kit they make for the 58-60 on my 1964. I know that I can put 65 brakes and I know they make other bolt on options I can buy for the 64. I'm just exploring all options right now that will allow me to fit the wilwood brakes.

Thanks.

It's like Star Trek--where no man has gone before! You're not just changing out the front end physics, you're modifying your steering geometry in totally unknown ways. Tell us how your car steers after this.

If you don't need to have the Wilwood name at a premium, check out Kanter. Keep your suspension and your wheels. https://www.kanter.com/productdetail.as ... er=Catalog Sorry, I noticed this pretty late. Good luck with the project.

I did the 65/66 swap on my 64. The only real problem is there are no quality brake pads available.
The best I could find were the cheap, Centix metalic pads for $17.95 and they have lousy bite.
I don't like the kits they're offering these days for various reasons.

I sure wish Wilwood would make a kit for us!

I might be able to help with Wilwood making a kit for your application. We have kits for the earlier Birds but skip some of the years due to the spindle changes. What years do the 64 spindles encompass?

I don't know if the 63's were the same as 64 but other than that posibility, the 64's are a unicorn. In 65, 66, 67, they used Kelsy Hayes front discs.
I sure wish they would come out with a kit though. I would be first in line.
