A 66 Thunderbird is cool. A Sapphire Blue 66 is a beautiful car. The 428 engine completes the package.

Well Kevin, that says it all!   I'll bet Jim has his own private reserve of Gulf oil much like wine buffs have cellars full of good wine.

Rebuilding the 390, redoing the interior, and paint......all before April 1.

We are taking it out Route 66 from Texas to Needles, swing up and hit "Viva Las Vegas" then back to Austin for the "LoneStar Roundup"

Back when we ran '01 Bullitt wheels.

A change to smaller wheels.

This the norm for her.......at speed.

Will be a bit different this time, so stay tuned.

I am keeping the flaked turquoise, and changing the Emerald Pearl to Toyota "South Pacific". Its a darker teal color.
It will run painted steelies until I can get some "Chrome Reverses"

Time is short, before Larry and I leave on April 1! (Thats 47 days)

I am having my 390 built, doing the paint and interior.
Its gonna be like a whole new car.

That sounds sick! That is going to be a cool road trip!

I will surely subscribe to the thread on the HAMB and be wishing I was there!

I see a lot of reference to the HAMB and don't know what you guys are talking about. What is it?

I'm crying

I've hit financial low.. and I was getting ready to sell a piece of history... but seeing all you guys and your birds makes me want to hang onto mine.

It sucks being young, barely making ends meet, with a bird collecting dust... *sigh*

I'll hold onto my bird for as long as I can... but I fear I'll have to sell her soon.

The H.A.M.B. is a forum that is all about traditional hot rods and customs. The key word being traditional. The cars are always pre '64, and there are some really great folks on there.....and the cars are awesome!

Yep, I go by the handle "ThunderRocket" there, and have been on there since i about 2004.
I have some great friends that I met through the HAMB.
Quite a few Bulletbird owners/fans on there as well.

@Ozzy: Yep, I'm on the HAMB too, as BirdGuy. It's a very high volume forum - a bit like trying to drink from a fire hose. An interesting crowd, and you have to follow the rules - but there are some very talented & experienced folks on there. As Yeti says, keep the subject matter to '64 and earlier. One can learn quite a lot (if you have the time to wade through it).

@Benelliman: Hang in there... You've been putting a lot into your car lately. Take a break & regroup a bit - you don't have to get it all done at once. That's certainly the case with me - I could probably drop $5,000 on my car without even thinking too hard, except that my family's budget couldn't take it. So, I have to be patient and take the long view. If I'm lucky I may get new brakes on it this year.
