Thunderbird "Parademaster"?

Post by Jay »

I have never heard of this one before. There is a car for sale on EBay called a 1962 Thunderbird Parademaster. The difference from a Sports Roadster seems to be that the usual SR tonneau cover is replaced with one that has a wide, padded seat instead of the headrest ramps. No hand grip on the passenger side, either.

Anyone heard of these or know how many of them were made or, for that matter, whether this was a factory or dealer feature? The car has a 2Y87Z vin.

I saw another "Parademaster" on ebay not too long ago. I can only recall from the description that the car did not have a top at all. Hey, but you do get a trailer in case of rain!! I hope someone else does have more info, this is a curiousity.

What you are all seeing is a Landau (according to the '87' in the serial number) that's had the roof cut off. NO T-bird convertibles were built without a top mechanism for strictly "fair weather" use.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will misrepresent something in order to make a buck. Fools and their money are soon parted...
