Sway Bars & Air Shocks

Post by Maplewood »

Any preferences on these items from you guys that have used them? Need to know make and model and any info I can get, where to buy as well.

By the way my car is coming along, found a guy with a rebuilt 390 for $500 then found an "RV" cam on Ebay for $65 and then bought a used Edelbrock Performer 390 intake for $135 on a FE forum website, putting them in the car this month...........sweet!

Bought the shocks, they are Monroes, will post a pick of new stance after install, Not going for jacked up look, just don't like the riding low in back look at all..................plus I'm a bit more of a old school hotrod guy than lowrider, but I appreciate them all.

Still need info on sway bars though................anyone?

Sway Bars

Post by Jay »

Can't give you a model, but I added a heavy duty front sway bar to my '62 SR and it made a huge difference in how it drives. My front upper shock bushings were also shot at the time, and replacing those and the sway bar helped a lot. Also did an "old school" front end alignment, since no one around here has a machine that can handle this car, and that was the icing on the cake. No more front end wobbles. I bought the sway bar online but just can't remember where right now. I'll see if I can find a receipt somwehere, but go with the heavier duty variety wherever you find one.
