64 Restoration

Re: 64 Restoration
Question for the experts - Is this the correct way to mount the accelerator? In my mind, I remember the pedal being mounted under the carpet, with it coming up from underneath, such that the screws are hidden and not distorting the surface. Is that right? They have me paying up for this part of the job, so I want to be sure they are doing it right. Thanks so much,

NO!
Pedal mounts to the floorpan, carpet goes over it.

Moving through the last few bits - Some non OE decisions had to be made to give the new rockers room to move, and to let the carb breathe a little better. They are correcting the pedal and I linked them to the reprint of the factory interior & trim manual that's on amazon. Getting close!

Pedal made right - These guys are doing a really nice job with this. Won't be long...
Re: 64 Restoration
Nothing like new carpet! Can't wait to do mine, but always wondered how to accurately cut the slot for the gas pedal (and hi/low beam switch). Yours looks great.

Thanks, Patrick - I sent them the link to the interior and trim shop book reprint that's available on Amazon, to help guide them where they may not have done one before - They are primarily a European shop, so some of this stuff is probably new to them.
They do youtube videos from time to time featuring unusual makes and models that they have in the shop, which is fun. They had a super original 289 Cobra in when I stopped in for a visit, so it's not the only US car they have had through. The T-Bird never made it to center stage for a video, but it has been in the background of a few, where it's the biggest thing in the shop and can't always be cropped out...
The spec I gave them was on pickup day, it will immediately make a 1000 mile run home, and will probably be used for similar road trips for the rest of our time together, so I'm guessing it will have a few weeks of shakedown after they wrap up the interior, then it's road trip time...

Thanks Terry, Much appreciated!
Re: 64 Restoration
I completely forget if we had a kick panel under the passenger side dash, but the way the kit carpet sets are made, it sure looks like it needs one now, if it did not have one before. Has anyone here tried to install an under-dash panel before?
