motor mount orientation 352 in '60

Post by dbaldw »

hi, I could use some help. I am trying to reinstall a newly rebuilt 352 and cruise-o-matic trans into my 1960 tbird and am having trouble with the mounting pad on the trans lining up with the rubber mounting surface on the trans mount bolted to the crossmember. Both the engine motor mounts and the trans mount are new from bird nest. the engine/trans seems like it needs go back towards the diff by 1/2 to 1 inch in order for the mounting pad on the trans case to line up with trans mount with its bracket which bolts in from below. Currently I have the engine motor mounts installed with the open C of their shape facing towards the rear of the car but I am unsure if that is correct. I would appreciate any advice from the group. many thanks, David
