Hello All,
When last I posted, the subject was front shocks. In due course I’ll report back the solution. Before the shocks go in I’m replacing all front suspension consumables, including the strut rod bushings.
I found a thread describing the trials and tribulations of removing the 1 1/8” castle nut that secures the strut rod to the frame, a battle I’m waging at the moment. When I use 1/2” drive 24” breaker bar, the strut bar spins in its bushing (other end of the strut rod is loose on disassembly of upper control arm).
The thread suggested that when brute force fails on a rusted castle nut the next step is heating by propane torch, then melting wax to aid in removal. I find no rust, so wonder do heat and wax apply here? Are there other options folks have found successful?

G'day.
Why don't you do the other end back up and that will hold it steady.

Thanks. Pretty obvious huh? That’s exactly what I did once I saw the option. Victory for this dummy.
