Thunderbird Glasses

Post by ICON 1956 »

Reading this months the "scoop" There is an article about glassware Ford sent to their customers after buying a new Thunderbird from Fostoria crystal. I went on EBay and found three 10 oz glasses shaped I like to drink from after a busy day.
I thought I could not find any survivors, But I did and there are others out there that are priced much higher than the ones I purchased. I love hunting for nostalgia items from the 50's and 60's.So for those Thunderbird affectionados these items are still floating out there.... Good hunting!

I'm holding out for the 61-63 logo glasses. There seems to be plenty of the earlier emblem glasses(or I misread and ALL have the early emblem).
I've seen the glasses for $10 or less in goodwill/antique/junk shops.

I have the silver keyring shown in the article(there's a picture somewhere in my signature thread) and I THINK I've located a plaque to have inscribed.

It is an excellent article spanning many interests.

All glasses from the late '50s to the end of their availability have the 'Slantbird' emblem as far as I know.

Thanks Alan.

Based on your knowledge I just bought an 'unused' dozen of the tall glasses for less than $10 each including shipping.
Adult beverages come with a free souvenir glass to qualified drinkers at my place next week.
They'll be nice talking points for when the conversation gets slim.

6 to 8 glasses per set, a bazzilion tbirds made 55 to 66...if half of the dealers signed up...these should show up readily.

There's maybe 100(minus my dozen :icecream: )of them on ebay right now.
The dozen I purchased for $112 was right next to a listing of ten for $300.
A week ago I saw three for $15.
In May a complete boxed set of 8 with the dealer card sold for $89.

I'll buy a 'short' set also. I don't drink often but when I do it's scotch.

In reality, no one cares but a small percentage of early tbird folk.

I just received mine today. I fell in love with the quality. They just don't make glasses like this anymore. btw I found mine on E Bay. there are still a few listed but pricey.......Negotiate with the seller.
