Bond and the movies.

Post by RAVEN »

Bond James Bond
Sir Sean Connery passes on.
To think, it was James Bond and associated actors who portrayed the Ford THUNDERBIRD, Lincoln, Falcon, and Mustang, in such movies as THUNDERBALL, Gold Finger, and Diamonds Are Forever.
We got to see a 64 Bird a 65 Bird, a 65 Lincoln and Falcon, plus a full size Bird (memory serves it was a 73).
There were also cameo sites of a Econoline van, and other back ground vehicles.

RIP Sean Connery

64 Wimbledon White convertible - Goldfinger - Felix Leiter /CIA agent - Kentucky scenes (watch for the red pinstripes above the upper body feature line, wheel covers and exterior mirrors that change during driving scenes)
65 Frost Turquoise/white convertible - Thunderball - Emilio Largo/villain - Switzerland city street scene/parking.
71 Ginger/brown (?) 2-Door Landau - Diamonds are Forever - Mr. Kidd & Mr. Windt/SPECTRE henchmen - Las Vegas scenes

Can't not mention the 2003 used in Die Another Day with Halle Berry behind the wheel, but that's outside of the Connery era (Pierce Brosnan).

Think it was a yellow 64 that Felix was riding shot gun. A Navy or Black Lincoln hard top that OddJob was driving. GOLDFINGER
The 65 was driven by No. 2 just before he met the Spectra Board in THUNDERBALL,
AND you nailed the Diamonds car and the two ? gentlemen. Bond got his butt kicked by Thumper and ? just as he found Wilard White, and Burt Saxby was knocked off.

I was also thinking tan or pale yellow for Goldfinger, but then I remembered the red pinstripes and Wimbledon White. The '64 Lincoln sedan was medium-dark blue. I wasn't sure about the driver in Thunderball, but thanks to IMDB.com I figured out it was Adolfo Celi, who played Emilio Largo (#2). I was getting him mixed up with Charles Gray, who played von Blofeld in Diamonds are Forever and had a bit part in You Only Live Twice. I'm sure there will be Bond movie marathons over the next few weeks to watch and sort out the details, or go to IMDB.

Up here in the Great White North, there is a rolling showing of Bond movies every few weeks. From the VERY first Casino Royal with David Niven to the most current.
Sad to hear the next Bond is delayed another year due to the Vivid.

Actually, the very first Casino Royale was a one hour made for TV movie which aired in 1954 (the first James Bond production) with Barry Nelson playing James Bond and Peter Lorre playing Le Chiffre and Linda Christian as Vesper Lynd. I have a copy on VHS tape.
