blower motor resistor

Post by rla216 »

My 64 t-bird blower motor only runs on high. I assumed the resister wwas bad. I located it on the side of the blower box under the dash. Trouble is the resistor wire is just hanging down and not attached. I have pulled the console apart and can't see anywhere to plug the resistor in. The fan switch has a 3 wire connector that is attached but it goes into a harness and is impossible to follow. Any ideas?

These are some photos I took when I had my dash apart. Could be wrong, but I believe these are the resistor connections on my 64 (no air):

(Sorry, not the greatest photo in the world.)

If you look closely in the upper right area, you can see the same red unit on the heater box:

Thanks Steve. I found the resistor but with more research I learned that I have the wrong resistor so the connection should be right at the resistor rather than elsewhere. I have ordered the correct part.
