Hi folks, while looking for room in the trunk of my 65 convertible my neighbor pointed out that new cars don't have spares. If I get a flat, would I get it towed or put on a spare? What do you guys do- keep a spare? I'm not sure there are "run flat" tires for a 65.
Thanks, Mark
Do you use a spare tire?

Re: Do you use a spare tire?
Run-flat tires are terrible.
My spare tire is so old that I'd be afraid to run down the road with it. I'm planning on getting a new one. Trying to figure out if I should go bias ply or radial. Do bias plys have a longer shelf life? Radials are supposed to be replaced after 10 years.

Jason, be aware that some Bias tires are actually Radials in a Bias tread configuration. Todays technology in an old fashion look. Coker is one such supplier.
In regard on rubber life, figure that any tire made recently will be the same rubber compound, be it Bias or Radial, just different internal cord/wire configurations to suit the tire tread appearance. This will mean same life cycle of the tire rubber.
This is my slant on the subject, any rebuttals?

I use a spare. I don't however use the bumper jack & go with a small floor jack instead.

Re: Do you use a spare tire?
Thanks everybody. Is Coker the tire most folks buy? I don't see a lot of options.
Re: Do you use a spare tire?
There are several tire choices. Diamond Backs, American Classics, Vogue, Firestone 721's, plus others. Depends on preferences and appearance you wish to have.
Your local tire dealer should be able to tell you possible choices.

I like the stock look and smooth ride. Not sure which tires are best for that.
