Re: 1966 duel master break
I have a Bendix booster and it looks like the Wilwood compact MC will fit without modification. It will be coming this week. I have noticed my booster gives me an extra inch compared to other ‘66s I’ve looked at

I will check out the Wilwood MC.
Re: 1966 duel master break
Mine has been back ordered, so I haven't had a chance to check it yet.

When attempting a dual MC, do you need another proportioning valve, or do you just re-use the old one?

Re: 1966 duel master break
No need to change it as long as it's working.

Re: 1966 duel master break
One more question here...
I cannot see how the prop. valve is attached to the frame, does it just pop off once the brake lines get detached? I want to get it off to inspect. I Can't spot any bolts.

Locating post and a bolt, probably covered with undercoating on the shock tower.

Hmm, mine does not look like that. Where your bolt is, mine is flush. I felt the underside too, nothing.

Re: 1966 duel master break
Bolt goes in from the back. You'll have to take the splash shield off to get to it if I remember right.

(Donor car—apologies for ugly) Look right next to the coil spring, below the opening where the brake line passes through. The two holes in the photo are the mounting holes. Fuel line is to the right. It is not behind the splash shield.

Wow, excellent info. I would never have found it, my bolt was so gunked up I missed it! She's off - now to bend the lines for the Wilwood valve.

Re: 1966 duel master break
Does the portioning valve go to both the front and back brakes or just the back, with the single line MC? If it goes to both front and back won't a different ported proportioning valve be needed with a dual MC?
Re: 1966 duel master break
The PV goes in the line to the rear brakes only. You can use the same PV with a dual MC.
Disk brakes require considerably more line pressure so the PV is installed to reduce pressure to the rear drums to prevent over-activating them.

Re: 1966 duel master break
Thanks for the PV answer the mechanic is changing over my MC to a duel line MC, that question arose for the proportioning valve
