Irma

Post by Joe Johnston »

To all our friends in Irma's path - please stay safe. We are close to the main path - this evening will be rough. Biggest concern is the loss of electricity, and wind, we are out of flood and evacuation areas. Hope to rejoin y'all in the morning!!
PLEASE invest a few bucks and buy all the shop manuals for your car. Definitely will save you much time and be an education.

Small emergency generator - can keep the refrigerator and freezer cold, but not a whole house one. Plenty of bourbon and a new bottle of Sweet Vermouth too!!! Which reminds me it is just after 4:00! :drinking:

Good news, wind speed expectations are now lowered to 85 mph - MUCH better than 130 - 155 predicted yesterday. Cat 1 north of Tampa will greatly reduce storm surges too. Still a significant storm but looking now like I can get some sleep tonight!!

Joe keep safe.
Try to calm that Old Girl, as I am heading your way, and want to see the stuffing knocked out of her, for when I arrive, in Atlanta.
Feel if I do not try, and event does stay on line, then great. If the Nats are cancelled, then I can turn around and mark it up as an attempt. If I do not go, and the event is held, I will kick myself.
Leaving Canada shortly.

I'm very thankful to be back and report we had no damage. Winds were reported to have stayed under 100 mph and the rainfall less than 9". No flooding but some trees are down in our neighborhood. Power outage from 8pm till noon was our only slight inconvenience. Many others very close to us were not so fortunate.

Thoughts and prayers to others here who were in Irma's path.

Arrived in Viginee, staying the nite, and watching the sky.
Seems it will pass in time for the main event on Saturday coming.
Will see and crossing my fingers.
