Hi All
I'm new here recently purchased a 64 Thunderbird
The car has Air conditioning fitted and stalls when the compressor kicks in.
My Question:
Should a 64 with Aircon have a fast idle solenoid fitted.
Thanks for any assistance
Cheers Dave

Re: Fast Idle solenoid
64s don't have an OEM component in the system. There was one year--61, I'm thinking--that a compensating solenoid was built in. Otherwise, it was added years later. The 64 system doesn't normally have that hard an effect on idle. Start with tuning adjustments, check belt tension, condition, etc. Or, you can modify, but IMHO it's not needed.

Re: Fast Idle solenoid
Check for vacuum leaks.

Re: Fast Idle solenoid
Check simple things, is compressor tight and loading up motor, is motor idle to low, is refrig charge to high, is ambient temps to low causing compressor slugging, etc.
