Hello Tbds.
I am thinking of putting some Cragar 5 bolt rims/tires on the 66 t-bird for an occasional muscle look. Yes, I realize this isn't purist stock but I am exploring some options.
I am currently running 215 75 15 on the front and rear with original hub caps.
The Cragars that I can purchase used are 245 60 15 (front) and 275 60 15 (rear). This means they are not taller than my current tires but the fronts are .5 inches wider (on each side) and and the rears are 1 inch wider (on each side).
Would anyone have an opinion on whether these rims and tires would fit? Thanks in advance.
Paul

Well, hard to say without a bit more info. I run aftermarket 15" rims, but on a 64. With a 66 you'll need to clear the monster calipers in the front. Also, the extra width in the back means you won't likely be able to install skirts (if that's something you're considering.)
There are numerous discussions of rim/tire fitment in the modified forum, below. Chance are, you'll find the answers you need in those threads.

Thanks Steve. I will take a look in the modified section.

Just to close the loop on this. The Cragar's I bought didn't fit over the monster calipers. Live and learn. Adjust and carry on.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Cragar Rims and Tires for a 66
what is the tallest tire I can put on my 66 t-bird, currently have 215/75r15's all the way around
Re: Cragar Rims and Tires for a 66
On the stock wheels, 215 is about the limit. 225's would be alittle too wide for our wheels but would probably work if you didn't care about premature wear in the middle of the tread.
Funny but our Prius had the same size tires as the T-Bird!

I didn't think a 225/75r15 would be that much wider but it would be taller

Just starting on the 66...These are from a 2005 Mustang, had to use 1 1/2" spacers.
