fuel tank filler neck

Post by 66blackbeauty »

need to replace a leaking gasket on my '66 fuel filler neck. As I was placing my Birds Nest order I also saw an o-ring- where does that go? I ordered one just in case I need to replace that as well. thanks guys :)

Once you have the filler tube removed from the tank, you will see a rebate in the top of the tank, where the filler neck inserts in to the tank. The o-ring goes there.
Recommend you butter the oring with a lubricant, before pushing the new tube in, or the friction will force the o-ring out of the rebate and into the tank. And in doing so; losing it. Leaving you to go fishing, if ever you find it.
