Key barrel on left front qtr panel

Post by Rickwyn »

Evening guys,

Another question we are trying to find some info on please?

On the outside of the left front qtr panel there is a small key entry point, like small lock. I've tried googling for an answer with no luck, so I'm guessing it's an aftermarket add on, but has anyone ever seen/heard of anything like this? Looks to be a single wire running from it into the firewall.

Any ideas on what it could be would be greatly received..

Thanks

Definitely an add-on...possibly to set a car alarm or disable ignition in the past.

Not sure what years but some Corvettes had an alarm key stock on the left front fender. Strange design choice for a Vet.. ::?

those sort of key-lock alarms were popular in the 70s, my friend had one on his CJ Mach1, and pretty sure I've seen a bunch of them on other cars.

My grandpa has the key slot on drivers fender on his 74 corvette. It is for the alarm but it has stopped turning. So I would definitively get rid of it or find another fender.
