Park brake cable

Post by snowcone »

Hi Guys
Can I have a hint on removing the front park brake cable.
Mine has partialluy siezed and I have been spraying penetrant down it for a few days hoping it will free up enough.
It is moving but still not free enough for the brakes to fully release.
I have the park brake assy out and some of the console but don't want to go any further unless I have to.
There is a cable clamp on the inner firewall above the throttle pedal and I have that off, but as the cable goes over to the R/H side I can't see what is still holding it in or where it goes through the body to the gearbox crossmember.
I figure if I can get it out I can probably do a better job of freeing it up, or at worse getting a new one shipped over.

There should be a spring clamp around the cable holding it up from sliding down through the hole in the transmission tunnel at the firewall you will have to remove the consul side panels to access the clamp. From there it runs back to the equalizer lever at the transmission tail crossmember.

Thanks Jim
I have both console side covers off but I still can't see where the cable disappears to.
I will go back in with a better torch.
At least I know now why it was disconnected when I bought it.
Cheers

Brilliant, thank you (except I'm not going to take that much out to get to it!)
