Convertible Main Pivot Retaining Bolts

Post by WNC Bird »

Looking for some help for my 62 Tbird Convertible. The main pivot support bracket base has come loose (passenger side) from the trunk floor. The base is held to the sheet metal with three bolts (main pivot retaining bolts) threaded into D-shaped threaded fasteners that are press fit into the sheet metal. These fasteners have pulled through the sheet metal. The sheet metal is now distorted. I was able to locate a detailed drawing of the assembly in the 62-63 shop manual on page 11-55, figure 26 but can't figure out how to replace these fasteners.

Has anyone run into this issue before and what solution worked to remedy it?

Thanks
Ken
