1962 Brake Booster help

Post by Clarkjwatson »

Hi everyone, is there anywhere I can order a rebuild kit for a 1962 brake booster unit. ?
I have watched a video online and know they're available to repairers but here in Australia I cannot find the kit for sale with anyone?

Thanks
Clark

Good luck in finding one. I've been looking over 30 years for someone who would sell one to a DIY'er and I'm STILL looking. Long story short - "bite the bullet' and send to a rebuilder like Booster Dewey in Portland, Oregon (and yes that's in the USofA). Go to the Search box at the upper right corner of this screen and type in brake booster rebuild and see what turns up.

Look at Harmon classic brakes. You can buy the kit.
May be better for you shipping wise. As it’s not much
More to send it out. Also if you pull your master cylinder
Back and look a lot of times it’s the bellows that fails.
That’s a 20 dollar small part and an easy fix.
Hope this info helps.

I feel your pain, being based in Australia also.

I had my booster replaced by http://www.hydroboost.com.au/ a few years ago, located in country Victoria. Ended up sending my original booster and brackets to him and was replaced with a PBR I think booster, it was identical size wise to the original. Certainly worth a call to him, nice guy.

As a matter of interest have changed out drums to discs from a 66 and hydroboost brakes (not same company) as I was not happy with original booster setup. There are posts here on how I did the conversion - PM me if you need any assistance.

thanks

Call Terry at Hydroboost in Echuca. He did my 10 screw booster. No problem.
