61/62 Reproduction Door Panels

Post by tbird »

Has anyone purchased the 61 early 62 door panels and installed them? Interested in how they fit and look, have used the 64 to 66's and they are not the best fits.

Jim,
I installed a set of the '61-'62 panels a couple of years ago, transferring the original armrests to the new panels. The only real issue I had was the door lock button installation. I just needed to bend the rod a bit and modify the hole a little so the bezel and button would fit correctly. I believe I ended up using some glue so the bezel would stay positioned in the hole. Otherwise the fit was actually pretty good and everything else fit up fairly well with just some minor tweaking here and there. Of course what may be minor to me may be major to others. I've also done '63 panels and found the same issues, but was ultimately well satisfied with the final result as well. And I'm not that easy to please....
