Post by 597LSCJ »

I am converting my 59 convertible with 3 speed to s T89 R11 overdrive, does anyone have a photo of where the factory installed the overdrive relay? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't have any pictures but from what i have seen on other fords of that era i think on the firewall just to the right of the transmission tunnel. Around the kick down levers.

59 TBird Assembly Manual shows relay location on firewall, harness, solenoid on trans, etc. Plus has the wiring schematic. VTCI 1958-60 Original Factory Specification manual also has photo of relay on firewall. Both of these publications are must-haves for your library - bite the bullet and get them - you'll be glad you did and wonder why you didn't get sooner.
